It is based on the RGZ-91 Re-GZ (also known as Refined Gundam Zeta) prototype transformable mobile suit which is an improved version of MSZ-006R Zeta Plus R with its special equipment and feature: Back Weapon System. Featured in Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack anime piloted by few however most important is one of the main character's Amuro Ray.
